Microsoft Live Writer
Microsoft has a beta version of a really cool tool called Live Writer that takes blogging to a whole new level. So what this tool allows you to do, is surf any website and then take content from that site (text, images, etc) and post it to your blog. What’s even cooler about it, is that it integrates with many of the current blog platforms (Movable Type, Wordpress, LiveJournal, etc..). Now of course Microsoft would like you to use their Live Spaces offering, but you don’t have to and that’s a huge bonus. Now one thing that I did notice about the tool is that it doesn’t work with my .Mac account, but then again I would expect it would. But for some of my wordpress blogs here are the features that you can expect.
Key Features
- WYSIWYG Authoring
- Photo Publishing
- A complete SDK (Software Development Kit)
- Photo Publishing
So with that, how can you really go wrong? Nothing really, except that fact that it only works with Internet Explorer and of course you need to be a windows user. Sorry Apple folks and Linux people, you can’t play this time. What this tool allows you to do is not have to log into your admin every time you want to post something. It’s a really nice tool and if your looking for something to make publishing posts a little easier, then I think you found it. Plus it’s Microsoft, so all the bugs that the public finds will eventually get fixed and put back into the product.
