Blockbuster or Netflix?

January 1st, 2007 · No Comments

Being that I like to do things over the internet and not have to get in my car and go to the store, I had always found that Netflix was a great deal. Then I needed to stop into Blockbuster to pick up a movie for the kids. While standing in line I started to read about their Total Access program that rivals Netflix. After reading the details, I quickly realized that Blockbuster is a much better deal than Netflix, at least for me and here’s why.
Netflix gives me the following:

  • $17.99
  • 3 movies at a time
  • I get to wait 2 or 3 days to receive my next movie, and hopefully I have one on a Sunday

Blockbuster gives me the following:

  • $17.99
  • 3 movies at a time
  • I can choose to mail back my movie or drop off the movie in a store and receive a free rental
  • My new rental can be used for a movie or a video game
  • Blockbuster is open on Sunday

So left Netflix and moved to Blockbuster because it makes more sense and I get twice as many movies for the exact same price. So now instead of putting the movie back in the mail when I’m done watching it, I take it to the store, pick up a new flick or game and they send my movie back for me. So at all times I have 3 movies and sometimes I even have 6. All I have to remember to do, is if I rent a movie from the store and it’s already in my queue, I have to manually remove it. but that hasn’t been a problem yet, as my in-store rentals are either kids movies or games. Plus it gets me out of the house and I get to see what’s new instead of reading about it online.
