Remembering the little things for Adwords

February 15th, 2007 · No Comments

By now, everyone in the web community knows what Adwords are. For those that don’t, it’s the google term for marketing your product on a webpage. When you do a search on google, it’s what comes up above and to the right of your search results. Anyway, as I try to streamline my advertising it appeared to me that I have forgotten some of the basics to adwords, which are the fundamentals to any good Adwords campaign. Here is one trick to always keep in mind when listing your keywords.

This is coming straight from google:
keyword = broad match
[keyword] = exact match
“keyword” = phrase match
-keyword = negative match

For instance if my keywords were = Satellite TV for PC
I would get a few of the following listings:

9907 pc satellite tv
2636 satellite tv free pc
1295 free pc satellite software tv
1082 pc review satellite tv
47 legal pc satellite tv
45 fraud pc satellite tv

so in Adwords I would add the following
[pc satellite tv]
“pc satellite tv”
pc satellite tv
[satellite tv free pc]
satellite tv free pc
“satellite tv free pc”
-legal
-fraud

Some times negative keywords are as important as relative keywords. It’s all about your CPC, and you only want those customers that are actually looking for the product to come to your site. So don’t get the customers that are just looking for information, you want the ones that are ready to buy. Good Luck with your adwords.
