Well night number one of Fox’s TV game show “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader“, was a real hit. I mean I never talked to the TV more than I did last night, and routed for children as much as I did last night. We only got to see two contestants, but that’s all we needed to see to know that Fox has found the perfect recipe for TV game show entertainment. Our first contestant ended up leaving the show with $5000 in his pocket, and he didn’t answer one of the questions right, the 5th graders did. Apparently parents of children who are about to attend college SHOULDN’T watch this show. This guy ended up going home on a question that he should have known. The question was, “Who was the first president to be impeached”? Well his thought was that it might have been John Adams, he would have been wrong. The 5th grades answered Andrew Johnson, they were right, ALL of them were correct. This guy also didn’t know what month we celebrate Columbus Day in (he said August, it’s really in October), didn’t know whether Polar Bears ate penguins (they are on opposite sides of the earth), and of course the President question. Here’s the best part of the whole thing…. He was an American History major from UCLA, HAHAHA. Well tonight promises to be just as good as a different contestant tries to out smart the 5th graders. My bet -> The Fifth graders will still be smarter.
Jeff Foxworthy, you know the guy with all the Redneck jokes and calendars, is the perfect host for this show. I would love to be in the audience and see his real reaction to some of the answers these people give. The second contestant got asked what boat the Pilgrims’ came to America on, and she almost missed the Mayflower. After that she needed to cheat on her fifth grade friend to get the answer to what REM is during sleep. PLEASE!!! Oh well, apparently the screening process is nothing like it is for Jeopardy, and might very well be the opposite. Anyway, I will be watching night number two for sure, hey it’s not me who’s on TV admitting to the world that fifth graders are way smarter than me.
Fifth Graders ARE Smarter!
