Week 1 NFL Picks

September 9th, 2007 · No Comments

This year I decided that I would throw my picks up for everyone to see, and for me to have a little fun and see how close I can come to picking the winners of each NFL game. At the end of the year I’ll post my results, but without further ado here are my week 1 picks. Keep in mind I had already picked the Colts over the Saints.

Bears at Chargers: Chargers. Norv Turners now running the show and the change should be good for the chargers. Even though the Bears defense is great, so is that little running back that the Chargers have.

Lions at Raiders: Lions. I’m still not convinced that the Raiders can put it together. I also wonder how strong their coaching is. The Lions also have no lack of offensive talent either. Should actually be a good game.

Panthers at Rams: Rams. Bulger is just too good at finding the open receiver and Stephen Jackson might just run over people.

Chiefs at Texans: Chiefs. This is only the 11th time in franchise history that the Texans are favored. However I think they’ll blow it.

Steelers at Browns: Steelers. Even though I’m a Browns fan and I think they’ll do better than last year, there is still a lot of learning to be done with this team. The Steelers have owned the Browns in recent years, this probably isn’t the year they are going break the tradition.

Titans at Jaguars: Jaguars. Close call. Vince Young is a star, but who’s he going to throw to?

Eagles at Packers. Eagles. Donovan McNabb is coming back from a knee injury and looks good. Farve really didn’t get any more help in the off season.

Falcons at Vikings: Vikings. Without the second highest paid player in the NFL, the dirty birds don’t have a chance.

Patriots at Jets: Patriots. Tom Brady doesn’t loose to the Jets.

Buccaneers at Seahawks: Seahawks. Because Sean Alexander ruined my fantasy team last year, he’s going to come out and be back to his 2005 form. Plus the Seahawks are going for their fourth straight NFC West title.

Broncos at Bills: Broncos. For some reason it’s always hard to bet against Shanahan. Basically I’m taking Jay Cutler and Travis Henry over J.P. Losman and Marshawn Lynch.

Dolphins at Redskins: Dolphins. Simply put, I’ll bet on Trent Green.

Giants at Cowboys: Cowboys: Cowboys are tough at home and Eli didn’t look so great in the preseason. I also worry that the Giants lost a little bit at the running back position.

Ravens at Bengals: Bengals. Ravens defense will be tough, but they are getting old. Bengals can throw and run, and I think this is finally their year.

Cardinal at 49ers: 49ers. Frank Gore finally has a chance to play his first full season and Alex Smith is getting better. Even though the Cards have won the last four in the series I think the 9ers have something to prove.
