Last week I was 11 - 5 picking games, not too bad considering it was the first week of the season and there wasn’t much to go on. Now each of the teams have had at least one game so now we have a little something to go on. Here are my picks for week 2.
Texans at Panthers: Panthers. Although Houston is on a winning streak of 1, I think the Panthers have more offensive power.
Bengals at Browns: Bengals. After seeing what the Steelers did to the Browns last week, the only doubt left is what the final score is going to be.
Colts at Titans: Colts. Colts just have too many weapons. Vince Young looked good, but he might not be able to run against the Colts defense.
Saints at Buccaneers: Saints. Drew Brees isn’t going to let his Monday night performance bother him this week. Duece should get the ball more as they run it down the throats of Tampa.
49ers at Rams: Rams. 9ers looked good last week, in a Monday night game that was enjoyable to watch. However the Rams didn’t look so good and they are at home. Rams have too many veterans to go 0 - 2.
Bills at Steelers: Steelers. The Bills aren’t the Browns, so the Steelers are going to have to work a little harder than they did last week. The Bills played a tight one with Denver, but didn’t get Evans the ball enough. Should be a good game, but home field advantage might be the key.
Packers at Giants: Packers. Eli is out and Farve is in. Although the Giants are favored, I think an injured starting QB hurts a lot. Packers played well last week, so hopefully they can keep it together one more week.
Falcons at Jaguars: Jaguars. The Jaguars at least played a tough team last week. The Falcons lost their QB and their best Running Back, so they are hurting. Plus they looked terrible against the Vikings last week.
Seahawks at Cardinals. Seahawks. Sean Alexander is back and he is carrying a huge load. Cards are good, but I’m not convinced that Leinart is that good yet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a QB run slower than him.
Cowboys at Dolphins. Dolphins. Call me crazy, but I really think Trent Green needed one week to get back into game mode. I like Ronnie Brown running the ball over Tony Romo.
Vikings at Lions. Lions. Detroit looked like they have a chance to put together a pretty good season. The offensive firepower that they have is awesome, but don’t overlook the defense of the Vikings. Last week they only allowed 3 points to a pretty bad Atlanta team. Should be a good game.
Raiders at Broncos. Broncos. This game is in Denver and Shanahan owns the Raiders. Things may change for Oakland later in the year when they have their quarterback situation under control, but not this week.
Chiefs at Bears. Bears. This one might boil down to who has the best kicker. Each team had problems last week on offense, but the Bears looked like they put it together really well. Might be a tough week for Larry Johnson running against a Bears defense. They did a decent job against L.T. last week.
Jets at Ravens. Ravens. This was a tough one for me. Jets didn’t really look that bad last week, they just happened to play a team that was stealing their signals. Ravens had some key injuries last week and they look old.
Chargers at Patriots. Patriots. This is probably the game of the week, as almost all Chargers games are now. I don’t know if the Pats can steal anything from the Chargers, but even if they do it might not mean much. Rivers has about two options that he like to go to. Either hand the ball off to L.T. or throw it to Gates. If either of those two don’t work, he still hands off to L.T. who then turns around and throws it to Gates. So if you play fantasy you need those two on your team minus Rivers.
Redskins at Eagles. Eagles. This is a home game for the Eagles who played a tough game against the Packers last week. McNabb plays well in front of the home crowd and the Redskins looked confused last week. Too bad this is the Monday night game, I’d much rather see something else.
