Today is the first day of my fall cleaning, and not of the house variety. I’ve decided that there is no reason to wait until the new year to make a change, and the biggest change that I need to make right now, is to shed some pounds. Yup, I’m tired of going to the gym just to maintain my weight, I actually want to loose some this time. So today is day one of my “Body Cleansing”. I recently read an article talking about cleansing your body, and I decided to do it. Hey getting rid of some of those nasty toxins in my body can’t be half bad right?
So I’ve decided not to go with a commercial product, and instead I’m creating my own with some information I have found on the Internet. Everything I have read suggests that 9 days is the appropriate amount of time to do a cleanse. So 9 days it will be. Basically what I’m trying to do is take the toxins in my body that store fat, and I’m sure there is a mess of them, and flush them out and put good things in. I’m sure my body will react, as it’s been a long time since only good things have gone in.
From what I see online, there are a few people out there that have used a system that seems to have worked. So I’m going to use the same system, add a bit more exercise and a whole bunch of self control, and see what the results are. Here comes the toughest part, admitting to my horrendous stats. Currently this is where I sit.
- Height: 5′ 10″ (I don’t expect this to change over the course of the cleanse)
- Weight: 203 lbs (I expect this to change)
In order to do this, one must drink a bunch of water, and the amount of water one must drink is calculated by finding out how much you weight. So we already know that I weigh 203 lbs so I need to drink roughly 100 ounces of water a day. The water is going to need to be Purified, as normal tap water has toxins in it and those are the things we are trying to get rid of. So I’ll use my Brita as a source for my water. Another important calculation to know is your Body Mass Index (BMI). The formula for BMI is as follows:
Weight X 703 / Height / Height
So my BMI at this point is 203 X 703 / 70 / 70 = 29.12
Here is how your BMI calculates to your weight status:
- Below 18.5 = Underweight
- 18.6 - 24.9 = Normal
- 25 - 29.9 = Overweight
- 30 and above = Obese
So as you can see, I was dangerously close to “obese”, although that may be a bit of a stretch as it doesn’t take into effect how much muscle one might have on their body. Anyway, my goal is to get within that “Normal” category.
Now that you can see what I’m doing, I’ll write something here for the next nine days titled “The Cleanse – Day X†and track my progress.
