NFL Picks - Week 9

November 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Well last week wasn’t such a bad week for me pick’n the pigskin. I went 10 - 3 last week, raising my overall record to 65 - 37, and feeling a little more optimistic that I can reach my 70% winning percentage that I was hoping for. We are far away from that, so lets get to the picks for this week.

Patriots at Colts: Colts. Ok, so I’m getting this out of the way in the beginning. I know that New England has an incredible offense and a really good defense, but they still don’t have Peyton Manning. Indianapolis has a better defense than anyone gives them credit for and if the Colts play the bunch offense it could be over quick. All I know is this, it’s going to be an awesome game.

49ers at Falcons: 49ers. This one is a dog. Terrible offense against a terrible defense. And that goes for both teams. I’m just going with the team I actually have a fantasy player on. Come on Vernon Davis.

Bengals at Bills: Bengals. Although both of these things stink, I think the Bengals with their high powered offense wins out. Bills just can’t seem to put up that many points each game.

Broncos at Lions: Lions. Hey with this season going the way it’s going, I’m giving it to Detroit. Denver has looked good and bad at the same time and just don’t think this is their year.

Packers at Chiefs: Packers. Mr. Brett has it going on this year and Kansas City just hasn’t gotten a clue this year. It’s pretty hard to bet against Green Bay this year, although they are no Colts/Patriots.

Chargers at Vikings: Chargers. L.T. has got it back and Rivers looks like he actually might know what he’s doing at QB. Vikings are no easy team to beat, they have played tough in just about every game this season.

Jaguars at Saints: Saints. The Saints are back to their winning ways and it looks like Brees and Colston finally got it going last week. Jacksonville is ok, so this week will be tougher than last week was for the Saints, but still should result in a win, especially since it’s at home.

Redskins at Jets: Redskins. Last week the skins were humiliated by New England, and I’m sure they have something to prove. The Jets on the other hand have seen better days. They aren’t that good on either side of the ball, so this one looks like a sleeper.

Panthers at Titans: Titans. I’m thinking Vince Young gets it going this week, and the defense will be much better off since the offense will spend more time on the field. Carolina still has Steve Smith, they just don’t have anyone good enough to throw to him.

Cardinals at Buccaneers: Buccaneers. Garcia has the potential to put up some huge numbers. The Cards still suck and may never live up to expectations. Oh wait, they weren’t expected to be that good, so they are living up to their expectations. Sorry guys.

Seahawks at Browns: Browns. This one was a tough one to pick. The glory days for the Seahawks are done with, and their running back is getting old and constantly injured. The Browns on the other hand are playing at home, and Derek Anderson keeps impressing everyone, especially Winslow and Edwards who he keeps throwing to.

Texans at Oakland: Texans. Another tough one. I don’t like either of these teams, and you never know who’s going to show up for either team. I’m drawing straws here and hoping that the away team can pull one out.

Cowboys at Eagles: Cowboys. Dallas looks good this year and Philly has looked good at times. I think the Cowboys D is a little to good for Philly, especially since their coach probably doesn’t have his head in the game. I wonder what he says now if a player says “Coach, I need a blow”.

Ravens at Steelers: Steelers. This should be a defensive game from start to finish. Two good defenses and one ok offense. I think the defense’s are a wash and the team with the slightly better offense gets the win. Although Baltimore might score more with their D than their O.

So this week has a lot of good matchups that I just couldn’t pick. So I went with my gut and picked the one that’s played the best football to this point. I don’t know if anyone cares about any other game than the Colts / Pats game. It should be a good one, and take the over if it’s at 60 and below.
