I’ve finally finished the homepage to left side lids. I ended up getting my header centered the way I like it and it included the search box as well. I’ll use this as the header in my base templates, as soon as I get going with my Django pieces. So the page is pretty simple, but I like the simplicity of the design. I might need to work a bit on the text to the page (as well as spelling and grammar), but the layout is final.
The only really tricky thing that I’ve done to this point is add a rotating image to the homepage. Actually at this point it’s really not that tricky considering I only have one image to post. But the building blocks are there. It was much easier using cssblueprint for this project because the grid is so easy to follow and use.
Next I’ll be creating the “about us” page and the “contact us” page. After that i’ll be moving on to my Django models and creating the rest of the content on the site through a cms. The nice part is that I already have a presence up and a design I’m starting to feel comfortable with. So tomorrow expect more on the other static pages to the site. After that things will get really fun building Django models, templates and our very own custom templatetags.
