Well, it’s been a while since I lasted posted, so I thought I might give you a bit of a checkup. Actually there isn’t anything worth putting here, besides the following:
- I turned 33 last month
- I’m in a Rock Band
- I’ve started yet another Django project
- I’ve purchased a new embroidery machine, which allows me to embroider the hell out of anything.
So that’s about it, what’s been going on with everyone else? Kidding, more about each of those later, but I also uploaded new pictures of the kids. Jaden and I went to the Red Bull Air Race today, and had one heck of a time. It truly was a fun day for all. Check out my latest pictures over at flickr. Well kinda. I got Django all setup and I even created my model. Now it’s time to start doing the magic of styling and of course creating some content. The intitial phase was to create a “blog” style of site that would allow me to post “A Shirt of the Day”. It’s more or less a cynical saying of the day, but you get the picture. So by the end of the day I fully expect to have a complete site up which will allow the user to see the following:
- A Shirt of the Day
- The ability to Search
- styled pages
- Contact Form
Since I’m using Django, all of this should be pretty easy, but still, I need to get cracking in order to have anything on the site. Eventually I’m going to need to create some flat pages, but for right now I’m going to be pulling everything from my model. You can visit the progress of the site, by going here www.cynic-tees.com.

I gave in the other night and sat down and watched “Dancing with the Stars” with Yvonne. Mostly the show is a real drag and I don’t get what all the excitement is about. With that being said, I did notice a similar and somewhat confusing “Idol” kind of moment on this show. Not that I watch American Idol that much either, but both of these shows do something that I find odd. [Read more →]

As anyone who knows me can tell you, I’m not much for dressing up and rarely wear anything but T-Shirts. Thus it would probably be no surprise that a few years ago I started my own screen printing company. During this time I had a somewhat odd passion for collecting quotes that I thought would look great on T-Shirts. Ok, so your asking “What does this have to do with Django?”. Trust me, I’m getting there. Well once upon a time I created a site called www.cynic-tees.com and posted a few shirts here and there, and basically used the site to test out different web design tactics. During that process I even sold a few shirts and made a few bucks off of adsense. So it was more or less a wash. But now I’ve gotten re-energized and decided to give it a try for one full year. So here’s what I’m planning to do with www.cynic-tees.com. [Read more →]

There is no question that Django (The worlds greatest web framework
) is growing in popularity, especially in Southern California. I for one would like to get together with like minded Django developers, and see what others are doing with the code base. My question is this: Are there others out there that would be willing to do the same? If there is a group already out there I’d like to know about it, if not I’d be willing to start one. If anyone else is interested, let me know and lets put something together.
